ਕੈਲੀਫੋਰਨੀਆ ਸੂਬੇ ਦੀ ਜੂਨ 5 ਨੂੰ ਹੋਣ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਇਮਰੀ ਇਲੈਕਸ਼ਨ ਵਿਚ ਉਮੀਦਵਾਰ ਸਰਬਜੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਚੀਮਾ ਦੀ ਚੋਣ ਨੂੰ ਦਿਨੋਂ ਦਿਨ ਭਰਵਾਂ ਹੁੰਗਾਰਾ ਮਿਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਪਿਛਲੇ ਐਤਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਡਾ. ਬਲਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਰਾਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਬੰਬੇ ਗਾਰਡਨ ਰੈਸਟੋਰੈਂਟ ਵਲੋਂ ਸਰਬਜੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਚੀਮਾ ਦੀ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਕੈਲੀਫੋਰਨੀਆ (ਅਸੈਂਬਲੀ ਸੀਟ 20) ਲਈ ਫੰਡ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਡਾ. ਜੋਤਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਜਤਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ ਸਾਹੀ, ਗੁਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਗਰੇਵਾਲ, ਡਾ. ਮਹਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਦਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਧਰਮਪਤਨੀ, ਸੁਰਮੁਖ ਸਿੰਘ, ਸਰਬਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਗਿੱਲ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਸੁਰਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ ਸਰਾਂ, ਕਮਲਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਟਵਾਲ, ਸੁਖਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਢਿੱਲੋਂ, ਜਸਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਤੇ ਕਸ਼ਮੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਸ਼ਾਹੀ, ਹਰਭਜਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੋਸਾਂਝ, ਗੁਰਬਚਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਢਿੱਲੋਂ, ਭੁਪਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇਵ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਸਮੇਤ, ਡਾ. ਪ੍ਰਿਤਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ, ਡਾ. ਚਰਨਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਪੰਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਬੇਟੀ ਅਨਮੋਲ ਕੌਰ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਮਿਊਨਿਟੀ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਲੈਕਸ਼ਨ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੱਤਣ ਲਈ ਵਿਧੀ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਤੇ ਤਕਰੀਰਾਂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ।
ਸ਼ ਸਤਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਮੱਲੀ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਸੈਨੇਟਰ ਮਾਰਕ ਡੀਸੌਲੀਨਰ ਦੇ ਆਫ਼ਿਸ ਚੀਫ਼ ਹਨ, ਨੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਹਾਜ਼ਰੀ ਭਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਵਿਚ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਸਾਡਾ ਇਸ ਇਲੈਕਸ਼ਨ ਵਿਚ ਭਾਗ ਲੈਣਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਵਧੀਆ ਤੇ ਨਰੋਆ ਕਦਮ ਹੈ।
ਉੱਘੇ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜ ਸੇਵੀ ਡਾ. ਹਰਬੰਸ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਨਵੀਂ ਲਿਖੀ ਕਿਤਾਬ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਅਮਰੀਕਨ ਮੂਲ ਦੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਦੰਗ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਵੀ ਬੀਬੀ ਸਰਬਜੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਚੀਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਟ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਡਾæ ਬਲਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਰਾਗੀ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਰੀ ਕਮਿਊਨਿਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਮਬੰਦ ਕਰਕੇ ਇਸ ਇਲੈਕਸ਼ਨ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੱਤਣ ਲਈ ਆਪਣਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਤਾਣ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਣ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਲੰਮੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਪੂਰਨ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ ਆ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁਰਾਣੇ ਦੋਸਤਾਂ ਮਿੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਹੰਭਲਾ ਮਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਗੇ। ਹਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੰਧੂ, ਜੋ ਕੰਪੇਨ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਦੇ ਅਡਵਾਈਜ਼ਰ ਵੀ ਹਨ, ਨੇ ਹੋਰ ਕਾਂਗਰਸਮੈਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਮਦਦ ਲੈਣ ਲਈ ਉਪਰਾਲੇ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਵੇਰਵਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਵਗੈਰ ਅਫ਼ਗਾਨ ਕਮਿਊਨਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਨੇਤਾ ਮਸੀਹ ਜਲਾਲ, ਡਾæ ਜਮਾਨੀ ਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਕਮਿਊਨਿਟੀ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਸਮੇਤ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ ਚੋਣ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਵਿਚ ਡਟ ਕੇ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਉਮੀਦਵਾਰ ਬੀਬੀ ਸਰਬਜੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਚੀਮਾ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਹੁਣ ਨਾਮਜ਼ਦਗੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਪੇਪਰ ਭਰਨ ਦਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਮਾਰਚ 9 ਨੂੰ ਸਮਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਨਾਮਜ਼ਦਗੀ ਦੀ ਫੀਸ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਲਗਭਗ 10 ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਡਾਲਰ ਹੈ, ਛੇਤੀ ਹੀ ਭਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ। ਚੀਮਾ ਦੀ ਪਟੀਸ਼ਨ ‘ਤੇ ਲਗਗ 3200 ਦਸਤਖਤ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵੀਰਾਂ ਭੈਣਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਦਸਤਖਤ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਪਟੀਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਪਈਆਂ ਹਨ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਕਾਲ ਕਰਕੇ ਵਾਪਸ ਪਟੀਸ਼ਨ ਪੇਪਰ ਦੇ ਦੇਣ । ਬਾਕੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਦਸਤਖਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਮਾਰਚ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਹਫ਼ਤੇ ਤੱਕ ਚਾਲੂ ਰਹੇਗਾ।
ਬੀਬੀ ਸਰਬਜੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਚੀਮਾ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਮਿਊਨਿਟੀ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਫ਼ੰਡ ਵਿਚ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਵਲੰਟੀਅਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਚੋਣ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਵਿਚ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਪਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਦਾ ਕੋਟਾਨ ਕੋਟ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ।
